As Masselow’s Steakhouse Manager and Sommelier, Eric Cook takes the phrase “wining and dining” to a whole new level. Eric makes it his mission to personalize the experience for each guest. From the most discriminating diners to those who are trying Masselow’s Steakhouse for the first time, he aims to please by providing guests with memorable experiences. Eric takes time to “wow” each guest by matching their palate preferences to an extensive collection of more than 600 bottles of wine.
As a lifetime Spokane resident, Eric has had his hand in the establishment of many award-winning local restaurant wine collections, including Masselow’s. An Eastern Washington University grad, Eric began in the restaurant business early on as a dishwasher. Over the years, he became a server, a bartender, a wine clerk and a wine teacher at Spokane Community College. Achieving the status of Sommelier led him to decades of winning Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Wine Press Northwest and Guild of Sommeliers awards. Eric joined the Masselow’s team in 2014, after gaining experience at the Spokane Country Club, Patsy Clark’s, Huckleberries Natural Market, the Davenport Hotel and the Coeur d’Alene Resort. Happily pointing out the nuances of each hand-selected bottle, Eric enjoys sharing his love of wine with old friends and new ones.
