Award Winning Dining

Tanya Broesder

Masselow’s Chef
For Chef Tanya Broesder, culinary perfection comes with a laser focus on precise details combined with a deep passion for learning.  Inspired by her small town mid-Western roots, Chef Tanya believes that anyone can cook, but it takes leadership, love and learning to make a great Chef.  And if you’ve never scored a victory in the kitchen against a busy Saturday night at a four-diamond, four-star restaurant, you haven’t lived! Chef Tanya earned her lead role at Masselow’s Steakhouse with her love of cooking and her ability to lead her team with equal measures of inspiration and dedication.  Born and raised in a small Iowa farming community, Chef Tanya grew up with a strong sense of family, infused with hard work and delicious food.   From canning and pickling to baking and butchering, her early life inspired a career that brought her to the Western Culinary Institute and Le Cordon Blue program in Portland, Oregon.  After graduation, she earned an internship with Fugazzi in Spokane and then leap-frogged her way to Masselow’s, where she’s been an instrumental part of its success since its opening in 2010.

Eric Cook

Masselow’s Manager
As Masselow’s Steakhouse Manager and Sommelier, Eric Cook takes the phrase “wining and dining” to a whole new level. Eric makes it his mission to personalize the experience for each guest. From the most discriminating diners to those who are trying Masselow’s Steakhouse for the first time, he aims to please by providing guests with memorable experiences. Eric takes time to “wow” each guest by matching their palate preferences to an extensive collection of more than 600 bottles of wine. As a lifetime Spokane resident, Eric has had his hand in the establishment of many award-winning local restaurant wine collections, including Masselow’s. An Eastern Washington University grad, Eric began in the restaurant business early on as a dishwasher. Over the years, he became a server, a bartender, a wine clerk and a wine teacher at Spokane Community College. Achieving the status of Sommelier led him to decades of winning Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Wine Press Northwest and Guild of Sommeliers awards. Eric joined the Masselow’s team in 2014, after gaining experience at the Spokane Country Club, Patsy Clark’s, Huckleberries Natural Market, the Davenport Hotel and the Coeur d’Alene Resort. Happily pointing out the nuances of each hand-selected bottle, Eric enjoys sharing his love of wine with old friends and new ones.
